The surroundings of Saint-Quay and Binic boast beautiful hiking trails for all levels, perfect for discovering the wild beauty of the Breton coast, its seascapes, and its natural heritage. From the hotel, the famous GR34 can be reached in just ten minutes via the river path—ideal for both casual walkers and long-distance hikers.
The GR34 is one of France’s most iconic long-distance hiking trails. Stretching over 1,800 km, it traces the entire coast of Brittany from Mont-Saint-Michel to Saint-Nazaire. Each bend reveals a new facet of the shoreline: rocky points, cliffs, marshes, dunes, coves…
Created in 1791 to prevent smuggling, the trail hugs every nook and cranny of Brittany’s coastline. Forgotten for a time, it was revived in the 1960s and is now a must for avid hikers.
In Saint-Quay-Portrieux, the GR34 offers stunning views of the Goëlo Coast. From the Pointe du Sémaphore, you can see the entire Bay of Saint-Brieuc, the Bréhat Islands, Cap Fréhel, and the Saint-Quay Islands, shimmering in blue and green hues.
The trail winds through early 20th-century seaside villas, hidden beaches, and accessible shores, combining fishing ports, lively seaside resorts, and unspoiled coastline.
This route takes you past the restored Saint-Michel Mill, the Notre-Dame de la Garde chapel, the Saint-Quay fountain, and the Casino beach. You’ll also see the Saint-Anne chapel, the Moorish-style Calan Castle, and the Countess Island—accessible at low tide.
This easy trail links the town’s two main ports. Port d’Armor, the first deep-water marina in northern Brittany, bustles with fishing and nautical events. The route passes Calan Castle, Countess Island, and the Pointe du Sémaphore with its panoramic views, ending at the picturesque, authentic Portrieux port.
The region is also ideal for cycling, with bike paths, quiet roads, and trails to explore the surroundings at your own pace. Routes mix seaside, countryside, and charming villages for a complete experience.
EuroVelo 4, also known as the Central Europe Cycle Route, stretches over 5,100 km from Roscoff in Brittany to Kyiv in Ukraine. In France, it runs over 1,500 km along the Channel and North Sea coasts, passing through iconic sites like the Pink Granite Coast, Mont-Saint-Michel, D-Day Beaches, Étretat Cliffs, the Somme Bay, and the Opal Coast.
Starting from the port of Le Légué, this route takes you through the countryside to Binic-Étables-sur-Mer. You’ll cross the Gouët viaduct and ride along the heights of Pordic, with breathtaking views of the bay. Don’t miss the Pointe du Roselier and Pointe de Pordic.
This 13 km ride (around 1 hour) takes you along the western coast of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. You’ll pass through Saint-Quay-Portrieux, ride by beaches and coves, and arrive at Binic’s marina in a refreshing sea breeze.
The Bay of Saint-Brieuc is certified as an MTB Station with more than 1,000 km of marked trails. 43 circuits (from green to black) are spread across 13 departure points, offering sea-to-countryside loops for all skill levels. Each station features maps, inflating stations, and repair/wash facilities.
For a gentler ride, the Historic Homes circuit in Saint-Quay-Portrieux lets you explore the local heritage: beaches, chapels, fountains, islands, mills, and elegant seaside villas. A beautiful mix of culture, history, and cycling pleasure.
